I printed this book from the website PreKindergarten...The Right Beginning a few years ago and when I decided to post about it today, I was so happy to find that it is still available. My kids have loved reading this book each year leading up to Halloween! The book is free, but you may need Boardmaker in order to download it. If you need help downloading it, let me know because I can turn it into a PDF and email it to you.
This book takes on the same format as the Eric Carle book Brown Bear. It is easy to read due to repetitive and predictable patterns in the text. I created smaller versions of each picture so that my kids can match them (with velcro) onto each page as we read the book. This helps them follow along and stay engaged in the book.
I laminated the pages of this book and used a book binder to put it together. You could also put the pages in top-loading sheets and put them in a binder if you don't have access to a laminator.
This is the last page and my kids favorite page of the book since they all like taking turns yelling "Boo" and watching me pretend to be scared!
Cute idea! I found your pinterest page a few minutes ago while pin stalking! :) I am also a special educator and I am always on the lookout for sped bloggers and new ideas! Glad I found your blog. You have great ideas!
