NEW PRODUCT: Social Studies Units on US Holidays

My monthly science products have been a huge hit and I have been asked by several people to create social studies units that are a similar style.  What better time to tackle this than summer break?  I have created my first social studies unit all about U.S. HOLIDAYS.  These products are much larger and have many more activities than my science units so they could last for an entire quarter, or they could be pulled out throughout the year when needed.  Look for more social studies throughout the year...and if you have any topics you are wanting, please leave me a comment or shoot me an email (autismtank@gmail.com).

This product includes:
-Vocabulary overview and matching page (differentiated)
-3 Types of Assessment

-Flashcards (picture, word, and definition)
-38 Worksheets covering a variety of levels and address skills such as writing, matching, counting, graphing, word search, money, time, fill in the blank, cut/glue activities.
-3 Games: Bingo, Memory, I have-Who has. These game includes multiple versions for different ability levels.
-2 File Folders (differentiated for variety of levels)
-1 Adapted book with comprehension activities
-22 Journal pages (differentiated for 2 levels)
-Mini Research project: planning worksheets, grading rubric, self-monitoring checklist, etc.

This unit has materials for learners at different levels.  Also, it includes a variety of worksheets which allow my students to work on their social studies IEP goals as well as a variety of other goals (language arts, math, speech, OT, and science).

Let's take a look at some of the materials included:

Vocabulary overview and matching page that covers the 15 vocabulary words addressed in this product.  This can be made into a matching activity that can be differentiated for your student's differing academic levels (match picture-picture, word-word, word-picture).

3 Levels of Assessments that determine students' ability to receptively/expressively identify vocabulary picture or words, as well as concepts related to this topic.

Flashcards that show pictures, words, and definitions. Use these to practice identifying vocabulary words/pictures/definitions, matching activities, or create a focus bulletin board with your social studies word wall.

38 Worksheets that are differentiated for a variety of levels of learners.  Pictured are just some of the worksheets included.

3 Games that can also be differentiated for your learners.   Bingo comes with picture or definition cards; Memory comes with cards for matching picture-picture, word-word, or picture-word; I have who has card games as games cards with words and pictures to make this game accessible to more students.

Adapted Book that covers each holiday, what it celebrates, when it is celebrated and how it is celebrated.  Two file folders that come in this product work nicely as follow up activities to this book.

22 Journal Pages differentiated for multiple levels of students.

Mini Research Project where students get to pick a holiday to research.  This comes with a self monitoring checklist that walks students through the process of completing a research projects, visual planning sheets, templates for writing a rough draft and drawing a picture, grading rubric, and visuals for how to be a presenter vs. audience member, and more.

Please let me know if you have any questions about anything included in this product and I look forward to bringing you more social studies units this school year!  You can find this product in my Teachers Pay Teachers Store Here
